Line taken from Pinnacle.

Mexico to win
Mexico to draw

The last qualifying round of Concacafs WC group is played tomorrow and the Mexican squad will make the trip to the islands of Trinidad and Tobago to play against a home team that is in desperate need of a win to advance to a "playoff" in hopes of reaching the World Cup in Germany.

Interestingly enough, Pinnacle has Trinidad and Tobago favored against Mexico. Nonetheless, I have a very hard time believing this should be the case as Mexico is in a league of their own in Concacaf and Trinidad is well, an eternal aspiring team....

Positive things for Trinidad : They are at home, Mexico is not in need of points and Leo Benhakker, their dutch coach has them playing relatively better soccer than they were at the beginning of this round.

Negative things for Trinidad : Aside from the facts pointed above, the team they are facing is a superior team that is very difficult to beat. In this instance, Mexico will not be traveling with their A team but still, their B team is a whole lot better than Trinidads A team will be in a long time.

On paper, this Mexico team is much much much better, so far they have played 9 games in this round, winning 7, drawing 1 and losing 1 *to the US in US*. They have scored 21 goals and have given up only 7 for less than an avg of 1 per game.

The last time Mexico visited Trinidad they came away with a 3-1 victory.

Speaking honestly, Mexico is in a completely different league when it comes to soccer in this area and their superiority is vast. The one incentive they have in this game is not losing 1 place in the group which can happen if they lose and the US wins against Panama, which is likely as Panama has picked up only 2 points in 9 matches.

Tip

Take Mexico to win and Mexico to draw.

Slim, i really don't think it matters who wins CONCACAF and who comes in 2nd and 3rd. Groups are selected at random. That's why every year there seems to be a weak group and a strong group. I think in 02 the weak group was Group H with Japan, Russia, Tunisia, and Belgium all placed together. And Group F was the Group of Death as two of the top 5 teams in the world (England and Argentina) were put in with Sweden and Argentina. Also, i think Mexico is resting everyone so be careful here.

No doubt about it, who is first and second really has no direct application to the way the groups are created, nonetheless, if there is a team with pride that always plays to win, its mexico, they can be up 5-0 and they keep playing like they needed the 6th goal.....
